Recruiting Annoyances in WoW

When you play on a server like Borean Tundra and have been a huge member of the community in one way or another since the server opened in World of Warcraft, becoming a Senior Officer in a new guild and in charge of recruitment is a pain.  When we opened our doors to Actus Dei, we had hopes to be exclusive and have specific details and rules to the guild.  One, which was thrown out the door, was no set agenda.  We had a schedule to raid on, but decided the raids would be determined that day to avoid people skipping old content raids.  Yeah, we don't have that rule anymore.  The exclusiveness of only recruiting 80s that were ready for our content; yeah, that's gone too.  Instead, to be able to build 2 raiding groups at different times, we opened recruitment to all levels, specs, classes, etc with only limits on how many Death Knights allowed.   Still, we are pugging our 2pm (CST) group and our 8pm (CST) group isn't even created yet.  It's frustrating.

I'm beginning to feel like I fail in my position for the guild.  Yes, I am a mother with several greater priorities than guild recruitment, but one recruit, maybe two, a week when we have to pug 10 man raids is quite annoying.  I know the content we are farming right now is not progression and everyone is focused on Icecrown Citadel.  We run Trial of the Crusader every week, along with the weekly raid.  This leaves a day on our schedule to work on progression; usually Sunday.  Last week we attempted Trial of the Grand Crusader; which on Borean Tundra is impossible to pug.  Our usual healers were not online, it was only me and the off tank; so we pugged 7 spots in that raid and gave the 8th to my hubby.  That toon of his is currently in another guild.  The healers could not keep the off tank up worth anything on Gormok.  One attempt we did manage to make it to the worms, with just Dreadscale up, but I messed up.  I was put on the spot with the off tank dying (again) and had to pickup Dreadscale before he wiped the raid.  I did fine of course, until it came to the slime pools.  I forgot to kite him out of them.  Boom, me and the melee dead.  The holy pally only had 2500 hps and the restoration shaman (now a guild member, yay) topped the charts with 2900 hps.  If you know wow raiding, you know that the shaman did decent, but the paladin was slacking severely.  In the end, we decided that the druid off tank (Draecia, our guild leader) was better off playing his warlock or rogue due to what waits ahead in Icecrown Citadel; a 20% reduced dodge debuff.

This week our plan is Icecrown Citadel first wing on Sunday.  I've never tanked it before.  In fact, I have been studying the fights all week and will continue to study them until raid day.  This is a big step for us.  Maybe recruitment will pick up soon.


My goal is to get a 25 man raid group in the guild to take down 25 Algalon (a server first) or 25 heroic Anub'arak (another server first).  Even if it's not server first, walking around Dalaran on my tank with "The Astral Walker" would be nice.

Tired and raiding?

I'm so exhausted right now. Been up since 1 or 2pm yesterday and now I'm going into ICC 10 on my warlock whom I haven't raided with in months.  I think I'm crazy.  BTW, played with my layout a  bit.  Going to try to blog often.
